Emiliana Martinelli

Emiliana Martinelli was born in Lucca, and after obtaining a degree in Industrial Design from the ISIA of Florence, she went on to study Architecture. She then began working for the family business, established in the 30s by her grandfather Plinio, which eventually moved toward the design and production of lamps. Emiliana is now the chairwoman of Martinelli Luce, although she continues to do design work as well. As a designer she has always been inspired by nature, by geometric forms and shadows. Some of her individual work has gone on to receive international recognition, but she has also collaborated with architects such as Gae Aulenti and others from outside of her company.
